Awesome Star Wars Wedding Cake

By posted May 17, 2010, 8:20 am | Comments: 18

If you’re a sci-fi geek, what better way to celebrate your special day than with an amazing Star Wars themed cake. This toppled AT-AT is one of my favorite cakes to date. I love the mini Admiral Akbar and Mon Mothma but I think maybe the topper are the Ewok cupcakes that accompany this masterpiece.

I know there are a lot of themed cakes now-a-days at weddings but I would love to dig my fork into this one…and finish it off with a bite out of an Ewok. Is that creepy of me?

The bride, Rebecca  Dudeiros, says that this cake wasn’t even made in a bakery…she had her buddy (a pastry chef herself though) Teresa Ulrich do it custom for her. What a good friend…and with amazing talent.

That’s a very nice cake and all, but there is no evidence to indicate that Admiral Ackbar or Mon Mothma were ever in Hoth.

Therefore, this piece of fan-art poses a continuity conflict and should be considered non-canon, see Wookiepedia for more information: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon (and for better source material for the prequel to this cake, were that ever to materialize).

OMG!!! Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma were never on Hoth! And are those Ewok cupcakes??? Also, never on Hoth. Worst cake ever.

    It’s a Trap!

  • akbar

    it’s a trap!

Insert Comic book guy’s voice here.
“It would be impossible for Admiral Ackbar to survive on Hoth, as the temperature is to cold. ”

Ok seriously it is a great cake. My wife does cakes on the side and the simple things she does take for ever. I can’t imagine how long it took to do that type of detail.

Holy crap. I heard it exactly in my head as Comic Book Guy, followed by “Worst. Cake. Ever!”

But in all seriousness… that is effing awesome!

    Is the AT-AT edible?

    • doin-ur-mum

      nah… it’s a fucking cake yet it’s not edible…

You’re mixing battles. This cake depicts the Battle of Hoth with AT-ATs with characters from the Battle of Endor, in which AT-STs were much more prominently featured. There were AT-ATs in the Battle of Endor, but they were limited in their range of motion because of the forest foliage. Also, Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma didn’t set foot on the Endor Moon until after the battle was over. However, being that the AT-AT is laying down on this cake, you could say that it’s after the battle, but the cake would have to be colored brown and green (soil and foliage). Otherwise, it will be mistaken as Hoth.

This is the bride speaking. We HAD to have Ackbar and Mothma on the cake because those were the characters we were dressed as (yes, it was very nerdy). Continuity be damned! And my friend Amanda made the Ewok cupcakes. We didn’t banish them to Endor, but proudly displayed them next to Hoth. Sorry to disappoint. But the cake is rad, right?! And every bit was edible and delicious!!! (no fondant – all frosting over dark chocolate cake with hazelnut ganache)

Cool cake, hope the “complaints” are tounge in cheek, I know a few are. Back in the dark days, before the character cake pans existed, when Crisco was in a metal can, my dad made an R2 D2 cake for me, legs were pure butter cream icing. SHould get a pic of that, hopefully he still has one.

    • Eric

Head asplode. It’s a cake – and a seriously awesome one at that. Get over it. :P

  • http://www.xbox.com Albert

    The cake is a lie!

Admiral Ackbar would never get caught posing next to a downed AT-AT, unless he helped take it down himself! :-P

    Great cake btw.

Nice job especially since it’s all buttercream. We did one for a buddy of ours, but used fondant. Though.. it did stand up…. check it out… http://mylifeofsin.blogspot.com/2009/05/at-at-your-service.html
