How Chick-fil-a Brought One Couple Together

By posted January 9, 2010, 9:04 am | Comments: 0

Well not quite, but husband and wife Steven Hammond and Maggie Smyth met due to fast food chain Chick-fil-A. They both were called upon to work the “Aerial Assault Team” at last year’s Chick-fil-A Bowl held New Year’s Eve at the Georgia dome with LSU taking on Georgia Tech. Their duties included launching miniature plush Chick-fil-A cows into the crowd.

Smyth is currently an employee of the restaurant and volunteered to help with the game’s festivities. Hammond on the other-hand is a former employee and was asked last minute to come in and help with the massive effort (he was in the parking lot tailgating with some friends).

After meeting and chatting a bit, they discovered that Smyth was to be in Hammond’s hometown of Fort Lauderdale the following week. They exchanged numbers and the rest is history. They found they have many things in common like hiking, reading, traveling and the fact that they each always order the #1 combo from Chick-fil-A, a chicken sandwich, waffle-cut fries and a Coke…oh, and hold the pickles.

The couple gave out the same plush cows they deployed at the game but dressed in tuxedos and gowns to their 250 guests as wedding favors. The bride said, “I will think the Lord perfectly orchestrated our introduction and put us there to begin our new life together.” This year they will watch the Chick-fil-A Bowl from their home in Florida. This is proof that love and happiness can be found anywhere and come when you least expect it.

Possibly The Most Epic Marriage Proposal Ever
