Facebook Employee Proposes to Google Girlfriend

By posted February 5, 2010, 9:56 am | Comments: 31

How does the Senior Platform Manager at Facebook Dave Morin (@DaveMorin) propose to his Google girlfriend Brittany Bohnet (@Brit) ? Simple, by spelling out “B. Will you marry me?” in coconuts on a a sandy beach in the Maldives and flying over it in a private charter plane while she gets to pilot it.

She obviously said yes, what girl in their right mind wouldn’t and the whole thing was on his Tumblr and he later posted a Flickr gallery with a bunch of photos. I wonder how much a proposal like this runs…actually I wonder how much they’ll spend on the wedding in order to top this.

Nothing like making the most personal, private moment of your life’s commitment to another person and turning it into a public spectacle. Basically the online version of Mr. Stadium Scoreboard Marriage Proposal Guy:

M a maldivian and in travel indyustry, u dont need dat much money to experience a holiday like dis or hire a sea plane :)

    • WhoopDeDoo

      What recession?!

  • http://www.www.ee marek

Now really, why does everyone keep saying that they need to be a millionaire to do this?
Spelling out words on a beach is not that expensive actually. And while renting a small private “air taxi” for a few hours isn’t exactly cheap, it’s not going to kill anyone with a job. The guy was just smart and original.

  • Mathias

    His letter spacing is uneven.

  • Collette Choy

This is sooooo romantic and beautiful! Awesome! I would have that picture on the beach blown up and hung on my wall forever!

  • yeah right

most of you guys have it right…. this would clearly take LOADS of cash! with the stark white sand and perfect layout of the stones… to the plane rental… and did you see the freakin candles on beach and that dinner setting??? obviously these people have no idea of what money is. oh…. and she is WAY too hot for him.

    • reality

      its not stones….its dried coconuts..
and yeah she is way too hot for him..

  • http://www.google.com/news DUDE

It would have been cool to include HTML Tags before and after the proposal…

  • failbook

Ah, she’ll cheat with Twitter lol

  • Jesse

Because creative proposals don’t happen without money and planes.

    • xenon

u dont need to hire a beach in Maldives to do that like else where in the world..
its all over Maldives.. white n shining…

    • Anthea

Because creative proposals happen with effort and imagination, don’t give yourself an excuse.

  • Neo

    it is romantic

  • DLee

now that is unique… way to go mate!! Congrats!!

  • prabhu

This place is like a heaven !! my best wishes for u couples! If any one havent visited… plz make a point to land in maldives….

  • Anthea

You don’t have to be rich to do what this couple has done. While it was an original and sweet idea on the man’s part what with spelling out the words with coconuts, the romantic dinner setting and renting a seaplane is a common option for anyone there. I’m sorry some of you hasn’t explored to the rest of the world.

    • ryna

im maldivian too. i think this was in soneva gili.. and no you dont need to be a millionaire to do this. all the staff in the resorts are very helpful and they would be more than willing to help you out. i bet this guy is just as original as they get. great idea and best wishes for the future! we hope that your wedding will be here in the maldives too! :)
