Geeky DIY Bridal Bouquet

By posted July 7, 2010, 9:42 am | Comments: 4

We all love to design parts of our own weddings but these two have taken it further. A very geeky couple have made a bridal bouquet with all sorts of data-logging and biometrics involved. As a back story they met while designing a corset which tightens as the wearers heart-rate increases. They wanted to come up with something that would chronicle their emotions throughout the day.

From this concept they designed “Project Cold Feet“. It is a bridal bouquet equipped with Galvanic Skin Response (measuring emtional state) with the aid of an optical heart-rate monitor. All of this is attached to a datalogger which will track the ups and downs throughout the day. The information is gathered via the bride’s ring and a wristband on the groom where two electrodes are housed. The information is then sent to the bouquet.

We’re able to see at a glance, if the bride gets cold feet, or is just very excited by her bouquet. The bouquet is implanted with fibre optics, lit by two bright LEDs, one blue, one white. The LEDs show changes in Galvanic Skin Response. As emotion swings from relaxed (blue) to alert (white) the fibre optics will gently glow and the bouquet will display the colors accordingly. The bouquet will be composed of all white flowers, lilies and orchids to make sure that the lights are visible.

In addition, they will both be wearing infrared proximity sensors to track how much time they spent together or apart throughout the day. This is such a great (and geeky) way to to have fun with your wedding. I love hearing ideas like these.  It’s rare to see tech involved with weddings. What weird things have you seen used at a wedding?

I believe that every bride has a secret fantasy of walking down the aisle in a Vera Wang. With that being said, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this gorgeous creation by THE wedding dress designer, Ms. Wang herself. The dress itself is soft, but that sheer dark ribbon gives it a funky edge.   Fantasize. Drool. Enjoy!…

If your girlfriend is a sports fan there may be no better way to propose to her than with the help of a Heisman Award winner and talk of this year’s NFL season. One lucky guy, Ian Lis, an alumni of the University of Florida got just that when he proposed to Sarah Springer. The couple have been dating for…

Ha ha.  Fun comparison of Cinderella to the royal wedding that someone photo-shopped together. Clever.

Wow, that bridal bouquet is very geeky. And I’m not really feeling the groom’s hat either.
