“Tie the Knot” Nautical Save-The-Dates

By posted August 11, 2010, 7:22 pm | Comments: 0

Living on the East Coast means that I have a soft spot for all things nautical. So I fell in love the instant I saw these unique and fun Nautical-themed Save-the-Dates. The play on words – “tie the knot” – is almost too good to be true! These pull on my sea-faring heartstrings; I would be happy to get one of these in the mail.

And the best part? They are DIY! You can order them over at Etsy, personalize them, and print them out. There is even matching stationary, which you could use for post-wedding Thank You’s! I’m all for these, full steam ahead!

Engagement Movie Posters

By posted April 7, 2010, 9:02 am | Comments: 1

Miss Parfait over at WeddingBee has created mock movie posters featuring herself and her groom. I think is such a fun idea. I would love to see more of these done.

This was one of our favorite side-by-side projects! Mr. Parfait is a pro at MS Paint, so he did all the cutting, pasting, and color-matching to make our photos look movie-worthy. I’m more comfortable with Photoscape, so I added the text. I incorporated the names of our immediate family and our puppies! Can you spot our doggies’ names below?

School Themed Wedding Shower

By posted April 2, 2010, 9:30 am | Comments: 1

Many of our first crushes are spawned while eating in the school cafeteria and there probably is not a more innocent time in our lives for love than grade school. Soon to be wed, couple Julia & Bobby have thrown one of the coolest wedding showers I’ve ever seen and it was inspired by just that.

Julia states that “The inspiration for this shower started from one simple principle: a desire for a centerpiece that was consumable. In traditional Indiana wedding showers, the centerpieces are a BIG DEAL. When you’re a little kid, you FREAK OUT if you “win” the centerpiece.” With that in mind she created centerpieces from school vending machine items including: Juicy Juice, Snack Pack Pudding Cups, Hostess Cupcakes, Twinkies, cookies and fruit snack gummies (all on a plastic lunch tray).

Having Children at Your Wedding? Entertain Them!

By posted March 15, 2010, 2:16 pm | Comments: 0

What a great idea Miss Frozen Yogurt from Weddingbee has. Most weddings will have a good number of kids tagging along with their parents and we all know how interested in the festivities they’ll be. Here is a perfect idea to help keep them entertained.

We knew early on that we wanted to have a kids’ table with all sorts of goodies for the kids. I also knew that I wanted to make a special activity book for the kiddos to keep them occupied. Luckily, making an activity book was a lot easier than I thought it might be.

DIY Origami Heart Wedding Invitations

By posted March 9, 2010, 3:08 pm | Comments: 1

Amy over at Eat Drink Chic has an incredible post on making your very own origami heart invitations. These are pure genius and so easy to do.

A few days ago I created these little origami heart invitations for our engagement. They open up to reveal the invitation message inside and have an attached string so that guests can also use them as a keepsake decoration. They also sit snugly in little translucent paper pockets with sewn edges.

Revamped “Old School” Disposable Camera Idea

By posted January 21, 2010, 11:49 am | Comments: 0

A great way to capture personal moments from your wedding is to ask guests to take photos using a disposable camera. They’re cheap and you can litter the tables with them along with a request for your guests to snap a few shots. It’s always interesting when you get them developed to see what was taken.

The only problem is that you don’t want a bunch of bright yellow cameras taking away from the aesthetics of your gorgeous wedding. Well Miss Cola over at Weddingbee has solved that dilemma by creating a template to wrap the cameras with which makes them appear more “Old School.” Head over to the site and get inspired.

Do-It-Yourself Photo “Booth”

By posted January 1, 2010, 12:04 am | Comments: 3

Offering your guests a fun, personalized party favor in the form of a booth that snaps black and white pictures of guests wearing silly hats, boas and mustaches seems like a must have at any wedding reception, until of course you see the price tag. But since the trend does not seem to be fading out any time soon – and neither does the price – budget savvy couples are providing their guests with the same experience without cutting their guest list to pay for it.

There are several ways to set up a photo “booth,” or station, without renting the actual booth, and you will save about $2000 on average by doing it yourself. Your reception theme and personal style as a couple will help you create a unique favor that’s easy to do, guests will love, and it will cost you next to nothing to pull off. Most important to its success is designating an area at your reception with enough room for your guests to utilize the photo station, providing clear signage to explain to guests that they are creating their own personalized party favor.
