Wedding Program – It’s Also a Fan

By posted September 20, 2012, 11:38 am | Comments: 0

This is a great idea for outdoor weddings.  The wedding program can pull double duty as an elegant fan.  You can have them printed and made professionally or this could be an excellent opportunity for some DIY.  These are some great examples but I think the sky’s the limit with the design.  You could paint the popsicle stick with some shimmer spray paint or use cascading ribbons instead of bows.  These can be as formal or casual as you want them.  We think they are a great idea for an indoor wedding also – we’ve all been there, a  crowded Mississippi church in our fancy clothes can sometimes get a little stuffy.

Three Creative Wedding Menu Ideas

Idea No. 1 – Circular Wedding Menu – Classy Chic

This circular wedding menu fits neatly inside the plat and matches the trim color of the plates. Its’ a nice way to coordinate the look and to save space. It also gives a more rustic wedding a touch of class.

Idea No. 2 – Money-Saving Menu-Slash Favor Bag

Looking for a way to save a little money on favors? This menu-slash-favor bag is almost DIY. Just get the bags printed with your menu and put those bridesmaids or groomsmen to work on stuffing bags. Finish it off with an inexpensive nametag (doubling as a place card) and clothespin. Rustic and chic. A great idea for an outdoor wedding.

Idea No. 3 – DIY Chalkboard Menu

Believe it or not, you can make this yourself in about an hour. Get instructions on how to do it here. You can even turn a yard sale picture frame into a chalkboard menu. We’ve seen many brides using the chalkboards for simple directional signs as well.

DIY Photo Booth Prop Ideas

By posted July 5, 2011, 9:17 am | Comments: 0

DIY Photo Booths at wedding receptions are extremely popular these days, so I thought we’d explore some of the types of props you might want to consider stocking your booth with.  Remember, the props really amp up the fun associated with the photo booth, so don’t forget these items when doing your planning:

  • Hats -  hats are a really popular prop.  Cowboy hats, dress hats, the crazier the better.  (and if you have a larger budget, you might even consider this crazy hat)
  • Scarves – scarves are great.  Big, fluffy, feathery, bright colored.
  • Face Parts on a Stick – they make a lot of these, and they are always fun.  Lips, mustaches, bow ties, etc. all come on sticks in a variety of colors and styles
  • Theme Accessories – if you’re having a themed wedding, think about adding some props that tie into your theme
  • Big Glasses – big, bright-colored glasses are always a big hit
  • Picture Frames – big, small, fancy, plain…. they help your guests “frame” the perfect shot.
  • Chalkboards – It’s always a great idea to let your guests express themselves.  Chalkboards allow them to deliver a personalized message to you

Here are some photos from around the web that show you some examples of DIY photo booth props, but use your imagination and inspire your guests to let loose and have fun at your reception.

Do It Yourself Photo Booth – a great reception idea

DIY-photo-booth-wedding

A Do-It-Yourself (DIY) photo booth is a great way to get the party started at a wedding reception.  While the bride and groom are busy with the photographer the wedding guests can keep themselves entertained with a DIY photo booth.  You can do the classic style photos in black and white or sillier photos with colorful backdrops and playful props.

Creating one is easier than you might think.  Start with the backdrop, think curtains or bed sheets.  Solid colors work best but don’t be afraid to let your personality jump in with a loud printed shower curtain.  Hang the backdrop with curtain rods or even duck tape.  Next decide if you want props, we think more is best – and the wackier the better.

You can supply the photo booth with disposable cameras, instant film cameras or there is even an Apple photo booth application.  Guests can entertain themselves throughout the reception and create a lot of memories for you from the event.  I have some friends that have told me that some of the best photos they have from their wedding were from their DIY photo booth (but don’t tell your photographer I said that).

For those that want to build a more formal booth, keep checking in — we’ll post some plans to build a more formal booth sometime soon.
