Mississippi Fall Wedding Ideas

By posted September 26, 2012, 10:27 am | Comments: 0

It’s time!  Now that it’s officially fall we can bring out the pumpkin decorations, pumpkin cakes, pumpkin frappuccinos, pumpkin everything.  How about using some of those beautiful pumpkins in your own southern wedding decorations, and you can continue the theme with tiny pumpkin place card holders for your reception.  So cute!

Personally I am a fan of apples in the fall, especially candy apples.   Check out these cute pics of rustic candy apples with real twigs.

Three Creative Wedding Menu Ideas

By posted August 20, 2012, 6:01 pm | Comments: 0

Idea No. 1 – Circular Wedding Menu – Classy Chic

This circular wedding menu fits neatly inside the plat and matches the trim color of the plates. Its’ a nice way to coordinate the look and to save space. It also gives a more rustic wedding a touch of class.

Idea No. 2 – Money-Saving Menu-Slash Favor Bag

Looking for a way to save a little money on favors? This menu-slash-favor bag is almost DIY. Just get the bags printed with your menu and put those bridesmaids or groomsmen to work on stuffing bags. Finish it off with an inexpensive nametag (doubling as a place card) and clothespin. Rustic and chic. A great idea for an outdoor wedding.

Idea No. 3 – DIY Chalkboard Menu

Believe it or not, you can make this yourself in about an hour. Get instructions on how to do it here. You can even turn a yard sale picture frame into a chalkboard menu. We’ve seen many brides using the chalkboards for simple directional signs as well.

The Most Creative Wedding Invitation You’ll See All Day

By posted October 21, 2011, 8:11 am | Comments: 7

We’ve highlighted some creative wedding invitations before, but never anything quite as unique as this. These were the invitations sent by Amy and Casey whom you may remember from their secret marriage proposal video we featured last year. I love these invitations. The couple are both artists and put their own flair on all aspects of their wedding.

They collected scores of old books and screen printed the “Casey & Amy” design on each one and used the library theme for their RSVP cards on the reverse side. Did I say that I loved these yet? I love ‘em.

Creative Wedding Favors on a Budget

By posted August 24, 2011, 7:15 am | Comments: 0

Wedding favors are a small way to thank your guests for taking the time (and money) to celebrate your special day. But more than that, favors can be a creative and fun way to make your wedding unforgettable in the minds of your guests long after the “Just Married” car drives off.

Unfortunately, wedding favors can get expensive. “Our guest list was nearly 200 people,” says Charis Fischer, “so even spending ten dollars on each favor can get expensive fast.”

this beautiful photo is from Brides of Oklahoma

Here are a few suggestions for wedding favors that will impress the guest list without breaking the bank.

  • Start Cooking! For their wedding, Adam Ralko and Charis Fischer baked cookies for their guests.  “I think the key is personalized favors,” says Fischer. Though the couple married in New Jersey, they made the cookies in the shape of fleurs-de-lis, which is the symbol for St. Louis, where they met.

If you’re not the Betty Crocker-type, try store-bought cookies stacked in vintage jars or wrapped in colored cellophane and ribbon. Check out your local vintage store or Etsy.com for some more one-of-a-kind ideas.

  • Think Charitably- For their fall 2010 wedding in St. Louis; Angela Smith and Justin Hartmann donated to the Missouri Humane Society. “We put a dog bone on every place setting, so guests knew about the donation. It made sense for us to donate to a cause we support, and since most of our guests have dogs, they were able to take the treat home” said Smith.

Check out the I Do Foundation, where you can make charitable wedding favor donations to an array of charities, in your guests’ names. Other organizations, like Changing the Present, offer specialized gifts for hundreds of charities worldwide at price points as low as $5. Charitable donations can be made as one lump sum, or tailored to your individual guests’ favorite causes.

  • Personalize: Linda and Criss Palacios had a small 2008 ceremony in his native Ecuador, so for their 2010 wedding celebration in her hometown of Cincinnati, their wedding favors were napkin rings and coasters handmade by Ecuadorian artisans, in a fair-trade project with Peace Corps volunteers the couple know.

Melissa and John Kipke created unique favor baskets with guitar-shaped bubbles and packets of daisy seeds at their July 2006 wedding in Athens, Ohio. We wanted things that spoke to who we are. Daisies are my favorite flower, and I thought “plant the seeds of love,” would be cute. John’s mom found the bubbles online and everyone got a kick out of them since John is an avid musician, says Melissa.

Pick small items that reflect your personalities or shared interests. Consider personalized wine toppers, or monogrammed fans for outdoor weddings or customized boxes filled with your favorite popcorn, candy or nuts.

  • Think Big: Instead of individual gifts, consider giving one gift to the entire reception party.

At their 2008 wedding in Wadsworth, Ohio, Lindsay and Erik Valiante surprised their wedding party with a catered Taco Bell bar around 10pm. “It was the most popular part of our wedding,” says Valiante, “people still bring it up all the time!”

Consider giving one gift to the entire party, like limousine service back and forth to their hotels, a decorate-your-own cupcake bar or a table of assorted chocolates and small bags for guests to create their own wedding favors. Opt for brands like Choxie (at Target) or Hershey kisses over pricier brands to save money.

Golf-Themed Wedding Ceremony Programs

By posted July 14, 2011, 7:27 am | Comments: 0

The BridePOP team is in Madison, Mississippi this week at the Viking Classic PGA golf tournament (and the Viking Cooking School), so we thought it fitting to look at creative ideas for a golf-themed wedding.

The trick with a golf theme is to find ways to artfully incorporate it into the various elements of your wedding.  We found a great example of this with the wedding ceremony programs, where they had been printed in a scorecard format and then placed into range-ball buckets.  Very cute.

Creative 3-D Wedding Words

By posted December 10, 2010, 11:14 am | Comments: 1

Something we’ve been noticing more and more lately that we feel is becoming a fast moving trend in the wedding industry is wedding words. At least, that’s what we’re calling it. We are absolutely in love with the 3-D words that people have been making as an artistic add-on to the wedding ceremony or reception. Below we have shown just a few examples, but if you’ve seen more examples of this, let us know in the comments.

Epic Save the Date Cards

By posted December 8, 2010, 12:17 pm | Comments: 0

Our good friends at SOTA Dzine have created one of the most stunning save the date ideas we’ve ever seen. Not only are the photos killer, but they are personal to the couple as well! Here is what Jeremy from SOTA had to say:

Our good friends Kristi and Steve hired us to do photos for their “save the date” cards.  Steve is a pilot and they wanted to do a travel theme.  Sadly, we were already booked for their wedding but we fixed them up with another great photographer and i know they’ll get some great images!

Awesome Save the Date Video

By posted November 23, 2010, 3:34 pm | Comments: 4

There are many a ways to let people know you are getting hitched and couples get more creative with how they will do it everyday. This couple left it to art. They took over a main attraction in Charlottesville, VA to decorate in chalk. From Rob the videographer at Squid and Beard:

We love that they chose a green way of spreading the word (all biodegradable and eco friendly chalks w/o any wasted paper or ink typically used for these announcements).
